Paris Plage 2011

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 | About Paris, Main events | No Comments

Every summer in Paris, the banks of the Seine are crowded! For this 10th edition, the town hall worked twice as hard so that Paris is going to be turned into a real beach resort! There will be 10 times more sand than last year to create the necessary dunes.

During one month, from July 21st to August 21st people who can’t afford going on holidays will have a beach to rest! Indeed Paris Plages offers a lot of entertainments for everyone: cultural activities, sports and nautical activities.

On the voie Georges Pompidou (from quai du Louvre to the Bridge d’Arcole) you will see a 1 km beach! Moreover, around the Basin of la Villette, parisiens and tourists will find: pool, petanque game (famous French game of boules), dance and taichi lessons etc.

New activities for 2011: concerts, tales and photo contest.

Paris Plages will be opened everyday from 8 am to 12 am. Enjoy a relaxing moment, lying on a deck chair, under a palm!

Paris Plages 2010, there we go!

Monday, July 12th, 2010 | Main events | No Comments

From July 20 to August 20 2010, everyone could then enjoy this unusual setting, according to his own wishes: after work for a refreshing drink, or throughout the day, to test all the activities proposed by Paris Plages til late in the evening : petanque, “bal musette”, tango, and water sports (kayaking, sailing, pedal boat …) are available along the Villette basin, while you could enjoy tai chi lessons, roundabouts, ballroom dancing, and outdoor table-foot matches on the banks of the Ourcq canal.

And to transform Paris Plages into a true party, free concerts will be held on the forecourt of the City Hall every Friday and Saturday from 17 pm, in partnership with the Festival “Fnac Indétendances”. From July 23 to August 14, you’ll be able to see the french singer Arno, Tricky, Nada Surf, Beat Assailant, the Plasmatics, Uffie, Chloé, and many other artists… › Continue reading
