The Paris Jazz Festival
Wednesday, June 15th, 2011 | Main events, Uncategorized | No Comments
You are on holiday in Paris this summer, and looking for some entertainment? To make the most of the weather and take your mind off things, go to the Bois de Vincennes to the east of Paris. This big park in the English landscape manner, organizes annually a summer jazz festival.
Every week-end from June 11th to July 31st, jazz music is king at the Parc Floral de Paris – Vincennes. During this 18th edition of “Paris Jazz Festival”, the concerts presented on the main stage will develop a wealth of stylistic themes: every week-end, famous jazz bands will play a concert for you, and introduce you to various sounds from the United States, Europe, Middle East or Africa. Come listen to “le Jazz au cirque”, which combines music with acrobatics or “Latin Jazz” who will captivate you with its sounds and rhythms from the Carribean. If you like the piano, don’t miss the opening concert “Pianissimo!” a tribute to the royal instrument!
During this event, the Park will be turn into a huge showroom where works of art will be exhibited. Some animations will also be organized in the open air. With family or friends, let’s have a good time listening to jazz music!

Christmas in Paris : 2010 most beautiful lights and windows displays
Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 | Main events, Uncategorized | No Comments
If there is ever a magical moment to visit Paris, it’s during the Christmas period! When the cold seizes the city and the days are getting shorter, Paris pulls all the stops out to draw our attention, adorning itself with thousands of lights.
If you are visiting Paris this winter, you’ll enjoy many family activities organized in town: Concorde’s Great Wheel, the rink at the Hotel de Ville or Paris numerous Christmas markets are perfectly suited to begin your Xmas shopping or to drink a glass of mulled wine perfumed with cinnamon … There are many Christmas markets in the city: at Nation, Abbesses, Trocadero, La Defense, on the Champs Elysees or near the Gare de l’Est, where you’ll find a traditional Alsatian Christmas market.
But if Christmas lights are nice on the Champs Elysees, don’t miss the Grand Boulevards! Have a walk on the boulevard Haussmann, you will enjoy the department stores wonderful Christmas window displays: a must!
As for me, the Printemps offers the most beautiful window displays, with decors designed by Valentino, Yves Sainr Laurent, Nina Ricci or Alexander McQueen on the theme “Christmas at the Castle” (Noël au Château). There come ball gowns, furs and hunting trophies surprisingly together, like in a country parody of Coppola’s movie Marie-Antoinette scene. Your children will enjoy the windows showing Alber Elbaz’ little black and white people, in the purest tradition of animated displays. › Continue reading
Nuit Blanche 2010 : what’s on in Paris?
Friday, September 17th, 2010 | About Paris, Main events, Uncategorized | No Comments
Since 2002, year of the first edition, the “Nuits Blanches” (White Nights) have emerged as a key event in Paris every year, in October. Here, as well as in Brussels, Toronto, Lima and Madrid where the concept has spread out, the streets of the city become the scene of ephemeral artistic events for one night.
The “Nuit Blanche 2010” will take place during the night from Saturday 2nd to Sunday 3rd of October. The curator is the new director of Venice’s Palazzo Grassi, Martin Bethenot.
Unlike the previous editions, this Nuit Blanche 2010 will focus on three geographical areas (East / West / Centre of Paris) connected by the metropolitan lines 9 and 14 (NB: all metros will run until 2am): Alma-Trocadero, Marais and Belleville. This voluntarily central configuration aims at reducing the distances, making a Nuit Blanche 2010 on foot finally possible! With installations every 100 meters, the viewer will regularly encounter works of art throughout his walk. The works shown will be “discrete and poetic” for a decidedly “intimate” night.
Here are some of the works of art that particularly intrigued us: Dominique Blais’ voice-over in the metro line #14, a choreography by Tino Sehgal inspired by the most famous kisses of art history at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, a church Notre-Dame plunged into darkness by Thierry Dreyfus, or the fascinating neon signs projected by Hakima el Djoudi on the facades of the Rue de la Fontaine au Roi.
The event will be covered by 20 Tweet-reporters and 10 photographers selected by the City of Paris. Tweets and Pictures that will best restore the atmosphere of the White Night 2010 will be elected by the public and rewarded by professional kits.
If you’re planning to be in Paris on 2nd October, let’s choose your own program for the “Nuit Blanche 2010”!

The thermometer has risen at last, just like our will to bask in the sun at a café terrace. No problem in Paris, where the density of bars and café per square meter sometimes breaks the record. For not being stuck the next time you’ll be asked to find a fine and well exposed terrace in Paris, take a look at our list : the top 10 of the best terraces in town!
Since the purpose is important and one thousand and one ideas came to our mind while writing this article, we promise: this list will soon be followed by others. Cozy, show off or confidential, here’s our selection of the best parisian terraces in summertime…
De la Ville Café
Clearly visible under its multicolored hauvent on the Bonne Nouvelle Boulevard, the De La Ville Café has a one of the largest sidewalk width in Paris. With its free wifi access and a breathtaking décor, the bar attracts a trendy clientele any time of the day. We should say that the place was a maison close under Napoleon III! From that time, the place has kept a monumental staircase, a nice mosaic and a golden ceiling which put toghether with the oriental or ultra modern style of the other decoration elements, creates an amazing mix.

La Sardine
La Sardine is a small restaurant that looks like a Mediterranean Bistro, which offers a mix of tapas and french traditional cuisine. The small Place Sainte-Marthe on which it is located is only worth a detour. Straight out of a village in the South of France with its colourful luminons, its beautiful proportions and its lightly decrepit facades, the place is a totally exotic enclave in a highly urbanized arrondissement. Lovely…
